What Is ILL?
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows La Crosse Public Library cardholders to borrow books, DVDs, audiobooks, articles, and more from other libraries when they’re not in our collection. We use WorldCat and Wiscat to find and deliver your requested items.
Who’s Eligible?
Eligible: Patrons with a valid library card in good standing (no overdue items or fines).
Not eligible: Temporary or restricted account holders.
No card? Sign up at any La Crosse County Library branch or online at [insert library website URL].

Journal articles
Microfilm
Other materials (availability varies)
Note: New releases or rare items may not be available through ILL.
How to Request an Item
Search our catalog: Check the La Crosse Public Library catalog at [insert library website URL] first.
Make a request:
Use your library account to submit a request via WorldCat or Wiscat.
Need assistance? Contact us at (608) 789-7100, email ill@lacrosselibrary.org, or visit the Reference Desk.
Pick up your item: We’ll notify you when it arrives (typically 1–2 weeks). Return it by the due date.
Costs and Rules
Cost: Usually free, but some libraries may charge. We’ll let you know upfront.
Limits: Maximum of five active ILL requests.
Loan period: 2–4 weeks, set by the lending library. Renewals depend on their policy.
Responsibility: Timely returns are your responsibility. Late or damaged items may incur fines.
Returning Items
Bring ILL materials back to La Crosse Public Library by the due date to avoid penalties or loss of privileges.
